Our Story
The Story of Us
A few of our favourite milestones so far.
We Met
Our story began at Lakes College, where Jo-Anne was busy teaching business and Kyle was Head of Digital (though Jo-Anne’s IT problem is still very much unresolved).
First Date
Our first date was at the Cockermouth Light Switch On in 2023, which quickly turned into a full evening in Seth’s and possibly a few too many drinks.
Second Date
Determined to be more low-key and reserved, our second date in Whitehaven involved food, drinks, and although trying to keep the meeting on the down low, immediately being spotted by someone from work.
Third Date
a snowy adventure to Coledale and Force Crag Mines sealed the deal, despite Jo-Anne accidentally running over Kyle’s foot on pickup.
Albus, Felix and Sophie
Along the way, Kyle became a proud dad to Albus the dog and Felix the cat, and his daughter Sophie tolerated Jo-Anne (through a lot of chocolate incentive).
CAN WE MOVE TO COCKERMOUTH?
They soon moved into their first home together in Cockermouth, strategically located a 6-minute, 1,690-step walk from Seth’s bar.
She said Yes
Next came a “surprise” trip to Paris in December 2024, which led to a champagne filled proposal in front of the sparkling Eiffel Tower, Jo-Anne saying yes whilst clutching all of her belongings under the fear she's about to get mugged.
Changing of jobs
Despite both leaving Lakes College, Jo-Anne’s original IT ticket remains unresolved, much like the DIY renovating of the house.
Can we have our party at your house, please?
After enthusiastically (and persistently) harassing Jennings Brewery to host their wedding reception, many drinks have been sampled purely in the name of wedding research.
Wedding
like any great love story, it turns out happily ever afters aren’t always neat, polished, or perfect, they’re full of laughter, a bit chaotic, and absolutely worth it.
